TYPES OF MINISTRY NEEDED

Discipleship/Spiritual Growth – Most areas have been evangelized. There is a need in the area churches for ministry to focus on spiritual growth.

Training for Pastors/Church Leaders – Church leaders need tools, resources and support to help them in their own ministry.

Men’s Ministry – There is real need for outreach to men. Most men work long hours and are not at home during the day or even on Sundays. Teams wishing to minister to men would need to structure their ministry differently. The men usually will not turn out for worship services or Bible studies. You may need to brainstorm about some activity that you could have that would involve the men or perhaps go out to visit them in their homes in the evenings.

Women’s Ministry – Women tend to turn out very well for most any kind of ministry. Most women are hungry to learn more. They need Bible studies that are relevant to their lives. The women have many questions about how to deal with the situations that they live in. Many of the women live with non-Christian husbands. They also deal with alcoholic, abusive, and unfaithful husbands.

Youth Ministry – This is an area that we have found to be very difficult. We tend to loose the youth around the age of 13. Just as it is in the States, it is hard to keep them interested, however we don’t have the funds, the willing workers or the resources to reach out in an effective way. Teams should make an effort to always include something specific for youth in their ministry plans.

VBS/Children’s Ministry – There is always a need for children’s ministry because we have many, many children in every area. Just keep in mind that most areas have children’s ministry from many sources so try to be original and creative… but keep it simple.

Medical/Dental/Optometrists – There is a need for optometrist, medical and dental teams in the Stann Creek area. Most medical teams come to Punta Gorda, Cayo or sometimes as close as Dangriga but it is difficult for the people in our area to travel to where these teams are located.

Construction – There is always work to be done in this area. Many of our churches are in need of construction work. Some need roofs, windows, doors, others need plastering or need bathrooms added and some need repairs. Beginning in 2007, there will be a great need for construction teams to work on the Children’s Home, and other buildings that will be constructed on the new property. This will be an ongoing project for many years.

Jeremiah 33:3 Call unto to me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
